BBC 100
To celebrate its centenary year, the BBC wanted support with its BBC 100
festival period. Over the course of a month, DRPG was asked to deliver
various interactions across the BBC employee sites along with two hybrid
events and smaller panel chat shows.
The BBC Festival took place between 18 October, which was when the BBC
was first formed a century ago, till 14 November, which marked 100 years
since its first radio broadcast. The campaign aimed to showcase BBC’s
achievements over the last century, celebrate colleagues, build confidence
in the future of the organisation, and be inclusive of colleagues across all
locations.
With an exciting brief and plenty of ideas, the agency delivered for the BBC
end-to-end. This included site dressings; experiences; an opening ceremony;
now and then activations; and a closing ceremony.
DRPG received fantastic feedback from the BBC. Many of the events and
activations were hybrid, attracting an audience of 5,000+ for the opening
ceremony and 13,000+ for the closing ceremony. BBC 100 reached more
than 100,000 colleagues across 100 sites. Speaking to the team after the
awards, BBC Director General Tim Davie even said it’s the best he’s ever
been to, and he goes to the BAFTAs every year!
Highly Commended
Due to the buzz created by the live events, interaction and engagement on
the BBC internal comms platform saw a massive increase – 340% on likes
and 50% on comments month on month. Judges praised the campaign for
being highly professional, multi-facetted and pushing boundaries, as well its
strong performance metrics.
