This is just one of many examples Dale can share of
how sustainability accreditations have helped DRPG win
or retain business. He believes the going through the
certification process for ISOs and the B Corp has helped
the agency stay focused and on track. “Because we are
audited every year, it indicates whether we are doing okay,
and the areas that we need to improve on.”
DRPG also supports clients to make better decisions
with tools like the BOSS sustainability app, developed
with Syntiro Associates, to track and improve event
sustainability. BOSS (an acronym for Best Overall
Sustainable Solution) is now used in every live project and
at the end it creates a report to share with clients which
shows how well they are doing, for example how much
waste or carbon they saved, and where they can improve.
“We are also working with clients to link it with their ROI
and show how being more sustainable can save them
money, because there is a misconception among many
corporates that being sustainable is more expensive.
However, saving carbon on a conference, for example by
using public transport for delegates, can also save costs.”
In addition to helping win clients, Dale says the focus on
sustainability helps attract and retain talent, and keeps the
team engaged: “They love all the charity and community
projects we get involved in.”
From aiding St Richard’s Hospice with projects like WooFest,
a virtual music festival raising vital funds, to “The Art of
Giving”, a creative fundraising campaigns spotlighting
art for a cause, and collaborating with the Birmingham
Hippodrome on the Young Advocates Programme and
initiatives to inspire youth through the arts – DRPG is
committed to making a positive impact. It recently
kicked off its 45th-anniversary celebrations
with ‘The Big Build’ initiative,
constructing 62 prosthetic hands
for the ‘Give a Hand’ charity
programme delivered by
LightBulb Teams.
The event was part
of a collective goal
from DRPG to deliver
45 CSR projects
within the 45th
anniversary year.
